Torrential rains during the final days of July 2010 and August have caused rivers to overflow throughout Pakistan causing severe flooding and destroying dams, roads, schools, food supplies and homes in hundreds of towns and villages. Millions of villagers have lost their homes, livelihood, and the death toll is rising. This is reportedly the deadliest such disaster to hit the region in the history of the country.
